Clubs
All work and no play? Not at Shawlands! Check out some of the cool clubs we have to offer.......
Monday
3 - A - Side Football

Run by Mr Lucas on a Monday lunchtime, this newly formed club is for boys and girls in Y6, and aims to develop their ball skills......Brazilian style! Piccis on the way!

Band

The musical phenomenon that is Miss Taylor has carefully put together her orchestra over the last year, and is now practising regularly with the young musicians of Shawlands.

Gymnastics

We've got a good contact here - Emma, a qualified gymnastics coach, has been working with children from classes 2 & 3 since last year, and has trained them up to gain certificates of their own! Nice one Emma! Watch the video below to watch them in action.

Tuesday

Badminton

Mr Baker runs this one! Children from Y6, 5 & 4 can have a knock around with friends on a Tuesday lunchtime, getting to grips with the basics of just hitting the shuttle in many cases. On a Tuesday evening, out come the badminton hardcore of Y6, receiving proper coaching from Mr Baker! Within the year, it's hoped that some of these children can take part in a tournament in Sheffield. The race is on!

Football

Coaching in the community run the football sessions on Tuesdays, which usually run for 6 weeks at a time. Medals are on offer, as well as other goodies! This takes place rain or shine, so bring your kit!

Wednesday
Netball

Miss Hepworth is the netball wizzard-ess! On a Wednesday lunchtime, Miss Hepworth teaches the children all things netball related! Passing, moving, shooting, defending, pivoting, catching, tactics - the whole lot! A netball court could be handy though, and hopefully this will materialise soon! Piccis on the way, once Mr Baker remembers what he's done with them!

Thursday
Table Tennis

Ranked in the top 5 in the world at wheelchair table tennis, there is no better person to coach the children from scratch than Mrs Gilroy. Four children at a time head into the hall on a Thursday evening for table tennis coaching.

Friday
Badminton

As Tuesday really, but with different children - more dedication!

Table Tennis

As Thursday really, but with different children - now that's dedication!

Singing

To go with the orchestra, Miss Taylor teaches a mixed aged group of children the finer arts of singing - quite angelic (the sound of the children that is..... not Miss Taylor......not to say that....errr....stop digging....).
